about “my” Words

Welcome to “As Honey for Sweetness”,  a name adopted from Ezekiel  3:3, which says the following:

“And He said to me, ‘Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.’ So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.”

My name is Von de Leigh Hatcher-Russell. I love writing, reading, traveling, and, above all, learning more about God.  I began writing this blog as a teen in 2009. My family, friends, and readers have followed me on my quest through the youthful years of soul-searching and into the adult years of God-seeking. I hope you, too, will learn with me as I learn of Christ.

  1. Vonde, I think this is a great idea. I passed it on to E.J. to send everyone he thought would be interested.

    P.S. Krista is being delusional!

  2. I have read a couple of your posts before, but I had not read the reasoning behind your blog. i thought it was great. I also have a question. Seeing that you and I have slightly different peer groups, because we are in different states, do you mind if I do something similar to this on my blog? I promise I won’t steal your ideas or any of that jazz. Lol, keep up the good work. 🙂

  3. VondeLeigh,
God has given you a gift (one of many!). That gift is writing. Continue to use it for His glory. There are probably many people reading your blog that you will never hear from. So, keep writing to that great audience out there that are hungry to know more about Him. You are right, He is what it is all about!
    Love you!

    1. Thank you for reading and encouraging, Aunt Connie. It means very much to me! I’m working on another one right now, but it’s taking a lot of studying.
      I love you more!

    2. I guess I am one of those readers you are unaware of.
I am not of the same denomination as you, but I love the Lord as well. I admire your obvious faith.
I read the story of the explosion and injuries of Kevin and Medley, and the Go fund me. That led me to your blog.
I just want to encourage, you as you share Jesus with others.
      Keep writing, for Him!

      1. Tammy, thank you so much. I’m encouraged by your words. I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus from writing but hope to soon get back into the swing of things. God bless you!

  4. Man wrote the Bible….not God….you are deluded in your beliefs….Jesus didn’t come onto this earth to start a new religion….he was a Jew….there is no such thing as God…Man invented God to help him through this part of human evolution….this is a vile and wicked nonsense to teach to people….it only causes people to kill each other, nothing more!!!

    1. I am very sorry for your beliefs. Jesus did not start a new religion, that is correct. Instead, He reinvented a sacred relationship between God and mankind. And yes, He was a Jew.

As to there not being a God, I will not try to convince you of His existence. Here is what I do know: I have personally seen two friends, one with a sprained arm, and the other with a serious heart condition, healed in the same room during a powerful night of prayer, as well as two other friends with severe scoliosis who both cried and said they felt their backs straighten. I know an older woman who was barely able to walk after having broken her back and having surgeries, then during a church serivce, she began to jump with joy because she could, well, jump! It would be impossible for me to list all of the miracles I have seen and the beautiful spiritual encounters I have experienced. However, God is just as real to me as the heart beating in my chest. I can’t see it, but I know without a doubt that it’s there.

      God bless you bountifully!

  5. I’m a little late onto the scene as usual, but I have truly enjoyed reading. Your Aunt Connie is right, God has blessed you with a great gift, and you are using it very well. I will continue to check back and hope to see more. It appears that what has taken me a life time to come to realize, you are ontop of already. I understand why Mom and Dad are so proud of you! Me too!

    1. “Uncle” Robert,

Thanks and thank you for reading! All that I truly know is what’s written in Proverbs 8:17. There, God said, “I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.” The amazing thing about our God is that He really does reward those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6)! I love that about Him, and all I can do is scribble down that little bit that I learn.
